Please read this entire document. It is a wealth of information about the two types of shifts. It also confirms my suspicions that to survive we need to be as far away from coastlines as possible and as high in elevation as we can possibly be, without risking exposure to solar radiation.
There are two types of poleshifts: (1) geographic (aka geophysical) and (2) magnetic.

And the saga continues — we are now documenting how there is a possibility that the earth has been shifting/changing drastically (physically and magnetically) as seen in my previous article and various videos posted worldwide on June 11, 2011. On June 12th I documented even yet another change when the sun rose to the same 20 degree position in elevation off the horizon about 25 degrees to the south of June 11th’s position. It also rose a 1/2 hour later at 6:15 am PST instead of 5:45 am PST as seen on the previous day of June 11th.

The Sapa region of North Vietnam, a hugely popular tourist destination in the Southeast Asian country woke up to snowfall this morning as temperatures across the region plummeted to the lowest levels recorded in over a decade.

A growing number of scientists are starting to worry that it is the magnetic pole shift that seems to be underway that is the real culprit behind climate change. Not man made air pollution, not the sun, not the underground volcanic activity heating up the oceans, but the slow beginning of a pole shift that has been thought to destroy entire civilizations in the past and be one major factor in mass extinctions. The magnetic north pole is currently shifting at a faster rate than at any time in human history — almost 40 miles a year — and some experts believe that it may be the beginning of a complete pole reversal. What usually happens is that when we approach this point in the precession where this change takes place, everything begins to break down - all the social structures,etc begin to dissolve and break down. The key that does it is the magnetic field of the Earth. Which as present-day science realizes may also be the key that enables the axis to shift in the first place through magneto- hydrodynamics, where the magnetic field supports a connection where liquid aspects of the earth's composition become solid. When the field collapses, some solids become liquid and become slippery. They have demonstrated this in laboratories. The magnetic field and the electromagnetic field are the key. The magnetic field is what we use to interpret who and what we think we are, and also to store our memory with. We need an exterior magnetic field to retain memory. We cannot live without some form of magnetic field. If you look at major cities all over the world, you will notice that the day before, after and during the full moon there is more rape and murder going on. The reason is that the full moon tends to cause a ripple in the magnetic field of the earth, and this change is enough to take people that are emotionally near the edge over the edge. The magnetic field affects the emotional body.

While the speed of the earth's magnetic north pole shift has drastically sped up lately to about 34 miles per year (55 km), let's look at what is happening with the south magnetic pole. Every magnetic field has two polarities, North and South for example, and one might think that whatever is happening with one pole would be happening (in the inverse?) to it's opposite pole. Well as it appears, the earth's magnetic south pole is not behaving similarly to it's opposite north pole. In fact, it's drift, or pole shift, is actually slowing down! Presently it's only moving 3 miles (5 km) per year, only a tenth the speed of the north!

The sun has arrived two days early in Greenland according to KNR Radio. It usually rises on January 13th but for some reason rose on 1/11/11 this year. Inhabitants from the area appeared worried when witnessing the strange phenomenon. “The sun is not supposed to be here until January 13th, something isn’t right” a 74 year old local reported to KBR radio.

How would a complete reversal of the earth's magnetic field affect life? Geologists note that a “flipping” or reversing of the planetary magnetic fields has occurred in the past, but cannot determine how many shifts there have been, or how often they will occur in the future. Such shifts in the planet's magnetic field have not been connected to any clear change in life on earth.
About the only thing that scientists can definitely say about the drift of the magnetic north pole, the weakening of the earth’s magnetic field and the shift of its polarity is this: nothing can change these natural events. So if the planet’s climate is changing because the magnetic north pole is gradually becoming the magnetic south pole, humans will necessarily do what they have always done: adapt.

Runways at a Florida airport are to be given brand new numbers, but not for cosmetic reasons - the changes are thanks to movement in the Earth's magnetic field. Changes in our planet's core are causing the north magnetic pole to speed towards Russia at nearly 40 miles a year.
