Notes: 1) The ACEI and ARB drugs are preferred antihypertensive
agents in people with diabetes. The combinations of those agents with
thiazide diuretics are also commonly used in patients with diabetes.
Although thiazides may have a tendency to affect blood sugar, the
smaller doses used in these combinations may have little or no effect
on blood sugars and may actually be needed to control blood pressure.
