Following today's unprecedented POMO failure due to "system difficulties" (one would hope the Fed's POMO machine does not start and stop every time someone pulls the plug from the socket), Brian Sack's team (not to be confused with the PWG team of Eric Mindich) had to reschedule the literally failed auction. As it turns out, the first opportunity to sell $8-$8.75 billion in 2013 bonds is on December 2. And unlike the December 21 "reverse" POMO which is due to take place at 1:15pm, the rescheduled bond sale will instead occur at its usual time of 10:15-11:00am. Ironically, this is also the time when the Fed will be buying $2.25-$2.75 billion in 2036-2041 bonds. In other words, for the first time ever on Friday the Fed will be literally selling and buying bonds (although selling 4 times more than buying) at the same time. If this is not the pinnacle of deranged monetary policy which does not even attempt to offset monetization by a few hours, then nothing ever can be.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is taking his show on the road in at attempt to help Americans feel better about the Federal Reserve. During a visit to the Fort Bliss headquarters of the Army’s 1st Armored Division this week, Bernanke held a town hall meeting during which he took questions from some of the soldiers. Bernanke tried to sound as compassionate as possible as he assured the soldiers that the Federal Reserve is looking out for the American people and is doing everything that it can to help create jobs. At one point, Bernanke even made the following statement: "For a lot of people, I know, it doesn't feel like the recession ever ended." That probably helped a lot of people feel better. A few probably even had a good cry. But what Bernanke did not explain to the troops is that the Federal Reserve is very much responsible for the fact that unemployment is rampant, for the fact that the U.S. dollar is rapidly being devalued and for the fact that we have accumulated the largest national debt in the history of the world.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke sympathized with the “Occupy Wall Street” movement’s dissatisfaction with economic inequality at a press conference Wednesday, but said protesters should not blame the Fed for bailing out the banks.
Bernanke responded to a question about “Occupy Wall Street” by saying that he was dissatisfied with the state of the economy as well, particularly with the high unemployment and income inequality.
“It’s been going on,” he said, “increases in inequality have been going on for at least 30 years. But, obviously, as that has continued we now have a more unequal society than we’ve had in the past.”

In Estonia in 1987-1991, it was partly through the Singing Revolution. Street protests are all right as far as they go, but confronting police is not a complete solution. The Federal Reserve wants to know what you are saying about it. In fact, the Federal Reserve has announced plans to identify "key bloggers" and to monitor "billions of conversations" about the Fed on Facebook, Twitter, forums and blogs. This is yet another sign that the alternative media is having a dramatic impact. As first reported on Zero Hedge, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has issued a "Request for Proposal" to suppliers who may be interested in participating in the development of a "Sentiment Analysis And Social Media Monitoring Solution". In other words, the Federal Reserve wants to develop a highly sophisticated system that will gather everything that you and I say about the Federal Reserve on the Internet and that will analyze what our feelings about the Fed are. Obviously, any "positive" feelings about the Fed would not be a problem. What they really want to do is to gather information on everyone that views the Federal Reserve negatively. It is unclear how they plan to use this information once they have it, but considering how many alternative media sources have been shut down lately, this is obviously a very troubling sign.

The dollar has lost nearly 50% of its value against gold since 2008.The Fed claims inflation is 2% or less over the past few years; however economists who compile alternate data show a 9% inflation rate if calculated more traditionally. Alarmingly, the administration is talking about changing the methodology of the CPI calculation yet again to hide the damage of the government’s policies. Changing the CPI will also enable the government to avoid giving seniors a COLA (cost of living adjustment) on their social security checks, and raise taxes via the hidden means of “bracket creep.” This is a default. Just because it is a default on the people and not the banks and foreign holders of our debt does not mean it doesn’t count.

The standard gate keepers of government controlled education (indoctrination) and corporate controlled news (propaganda) were still there restricting access to correct information. The Internet however dropped all the walls around these said gates. The vast majority of Americans, including many of those who believe that they are "educated" about the Federal Reserve, do not really understand how the Federal Reserve really makes money for the international banking elite. Many of those opposed to the Federal Reserve will point to the record $80.9 billion in profits that the Federal Reserve made last year as evidence that they are robbing the American people blind. But then those defending the Federal Reserve will point out that the Fed returned $78.4 billion to the U.S. Treasury. As a result, the Fed only made a couple billion dollars last year. Pretty harmless, eh? Well, actually no. You see, the money that the Federal Reserve directly makes is not the issue. Rather, the "magic" of the Federal Reserve system is that it took the power of money creation away from the U.S. government and gave it to the bankers. Now, the only way that the U.S. government can inject more money into the economy is by going into more debt. But when new government debt is created, the amount of money to pay the interest on that debt is not also created. In this way, it was intended by the international bankers that U.S. government debt would expand indefinitely and the U.S. money supply would also expand indefinitely. In the process, the international bankers would become insanely wealthy by lending money to the U.S. government.
Every single year, hundreds of billions of dollars in profits are made lending money to the U.S. government.
But why in the world should the U.S. government be going into debt to anyone?
Why can't the U.S. government just print more money whenever it wants?
Well, that is not the way our system works. The U.S. government has given the power of money creation over to a consortium of international private bankers. Not only is this unconstitutional, but it is also one of the greatest ripoffs in human history.

Our friends at GATA report an interesting development in its multi-year confrontation with the Fed, namely that the organization has "scored a small but perhaps auspicious victory over the Federal Reserve in our lawsuit seeking access to the Fed's secret gold files. The judge presiding over GATA's federal freedom-of-information lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Ellen Segal Huvelle, granted GATA's motion to order the Fed to produce in complete form for the judge's private review 20 gold-related documents the Fed has sought to keep secret. The judge ordered the Fed to deliver the documents by Friday." While this does not mean that the Fed will actually publicly announce that its gold vaults are in fact filled with GLD stock certificates, it does put the Fed in an unpleasant position to have to escalate its defense of its secrecy in an increasingly more sensitive topic, i.e., precious metals price manipulation with or without JP Morgan, and is a definite setback for Bernanke in his pretend push to make the Fed appear more transparent.
