On 9
April 2003, the front page of the London Evening Standard
(circulation:
400,000) contained a blurry image supposedly showing a throng of
Iraqis in Baghdad celebrating the toppling of Saddam Hussein. What we are
really looking at is an incredibly ham-fisted attempt at photo
manipulation.
The source of the image is footage from the BBC. The Standard's
paperboys were obviously allowed to clone and blur the image in numerous
ways to make it look like a gigantic crowd. This was first exposed Simone
Moore and posted on the UK Indymedia
site. A user named Gnu posted the image below, which highlights some of
the most obvious signs of fakery.

The red circles show a man in a turban who appears three times. The
purple circles highlight an unknown object that also appears thrice. The
blue circles show two instances of an identical white object, disembodied
arm, and partial male faces.
The black circles show something a little different. Obviously, two
different still-frames from the footage were used, because the man with
sunglasses and white, open-collar shirt appears twice but in a different
pose, as do the men on either side of him.
The green line indicates where the image was clumsily smudged in order
to cover up the fact that it had been stitched together.

In response to the concerns of their readers that a front
full page photo show Iraqi's celebrating "the liberation of Baghdad" had
been manipulated on computer the London 'Evening Standard' has printed the
following.
Page 18 of Thursday, 24 July 2003 edition of the Evening Standard.
"Iraqi liberation picture A NUMBER of readers have expressed concern that
our front page picture on 9 April, showing Iraqis celebrating the
liberation of Baghdad, had been enhanced to dipict a larger crowd than
actually existed. As it was taken from TV footage, some extra people were
added to the image in order to fill the space left by the removal of logos
from the picture. In our opinion this did not alter the clarity of truth
of the picture's message but we are happy to make this clear."
Actually, I think they have admitted to a rather tawdry
photo manipulation to show what was not. Better to leave in the
"logos" than to cut and paste the truth.
The world gets crazier and crazier everyday, doesn't it? The world that many
of us thought was there, isn't. The bottom has dropped out of everything. The
illusions have been revealed, we have found out who has been pulling the strings

taught that we can control government by voting. The founder of the Rothschild
dynasty, Mayer Amschel Bauer, told the secret of controlling the government
of a nation over 200 years ago. He said, "Permit
me to issue and control the money of a nation and I care not who makes its
laws." Get
the picture? Your freedom hinges first on the nation's banks and money system.
