Monday, triggering jubilation among Iraqis hopeful
that foreign military

Hussein.Iraqi soldiers paraded through the streets in their
American-made vehicles draped with Iraqi flags and
flowers, hanting, dancing and calling the pullout a "victory."One
drove a motorcycle with party streamers on it; another,
a Humvee with
a garland of plastic roses on the grill.U.S. combat

Iraqi Resistance Report for Friday, 4 March 2005
Resistance bomb kills four US troops near Saudi border Thursday night.
It should be noted that the residents of the area requested Mafkarat
al-Islam to post a correspondent in the area because, they said, US
forces were sustaining heavy losses in Resistance attacks in that area
that went totally unreported since the area is remote and difficult of
access. Local eyewitnesses reported that on average five or six
Americans were killed in the border area every day.
Eight US troops reportedly killed in Resistance car bombing of
checkpoint in al-Qa'im.
Resistance shoots down US Black Hawk helicopter near Iranian border.
Resistance pounds US base near Ba'qubah, silencing American radio
station.
Iraqi Resistance car bomb destroys US checkpoint, killing eight American
troops in hated detachment. The Americans there were disliked by the
local population for their particularly abusive and intrusive behavior
towards local citizens. Their behavior was so bad that women from the
city completely stopped going out of town after the checkpoint was set
up, since they harassed women entering or leaving the city. One
pregnant woman died in childbirth recently because she refused to go
through the American checkpoint to Mosul Hospital at night out of fear
of the Americans intrusive searches.
Resistance car bomber kills 11 American troops in Mosul. The fighter's
body was completely charred and lacerated. Local people took him to a
mosque and then buried him in the martyrs' cemetery. But US troops
later arrested the person who hauled the body of the Resistance fighter
to the mosque, claiming that he knew the man and was connected to the
attack. The Americans also attacked the cemetery, driving onto its
grounds and over graves with their armored vehicles.

NewsMax launches smear attack on Giuliana
Sgrena
Mar 6, 2005
Botched Sgrena hit does not bode well for
Bush and Berlusconi
In all the coverage by the corporate media of the Sgrena story, one
crucial element is conspicuously missing: on the day she was kidnapped
Giuliana Sgrena had an appointment in a Baghdad Sunni mosque with
refugees from Fallujah. "During the attack on the city, eyewitnesses
described horrific scenes that analysts have attributed to attacks with
napalm, a poisonous cocktail of polystyrene and jet fuel that has the
capacity of melting human flesh and bones," writes Joel Wendland. "Inter
Press Service reported eyewitness accounts describing bombs that created
mushroom clouds and explosions that caused skin to burn even when water
was thrown on it. Some eyewitnesses saw indiscriminate shooting and the
use of tanks to drag dead bodies to mass graves."
Giuliana Sgrena likely has a few stories to tell that will not bode well
for Bush and his sock puppet, Silvio Berlusconi. Expect these stories to
surface soon after Sgrena makes her recovery.
Mar 6, 2005
My truth By Giuliana Sgrena
At that point a rain of fire and bullets came at us, forever silencing
the happy voices from a few minutes earlier. The driver started shouting
we were Italians, "We are Italians! We are Italians . . ." Nicola
Calipari dove on top of me to protect me and immediately, and I mean
immediately, I felt his last breath as he died on me. I must have felt
physical pain, I didn't know why. But I had a sudden thought: I recalled
my abductors' words. They said they were deeply committed to releasing
me, but that I had to be careful because "the Americans don't want you
to return."

The Unfortunate Incident Protocol
While so many journalists have been killed by the U.S. military that
some have wondered aloud (and lived to regret it) if media personnel
might actually be targeted to dissuade independent reporting on Mr.
Bush's wars, it's nonetheless unusual for a just-freed journalist, held
hostage for a month, to be shot, along with her rescuer, by U.S. troops.
Mar 7, 2005
Is there more to the abduction of Italian
journalist Giuliana Sgrena than meets the eye?
A few weeks ago, and of particular interest to Italy, researcher Daniele
Ganser with the Centre for Security Studies at the Federal Institute of
Technology in Zurich published a book on the NATO's Secret Armies after
WWII. The research offers plenty of proof on how NATO and the secret
services in various European countries collaborated in attacks on
civilians that were blamed on left-wing groups. It was not till the
early 1990s that a former Italian prime minister, Giulio Andreotti
confirmed that the secret group, code- named Gladio, existed.
Ganser's book contains various documented confessions including this
chilling statement by former Gladio member, a right-wing extremist who
was convicted for his part in one fatal attack, "You had to attack
civilians, people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far
removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple. They were
supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state
to ask for greater security."

Iraqi puppet troops and three spies were killed and four Humvees

relaying all these reports on the week's Resistance activity. The reason

city of Karbala'. Iraqi puppet so-called "national guards" arrest two
Sunni Iraqis in the az-Zubayr section of al-Basrah on Sunday morning.
Mafkarat al-Islam noted that the members of the puppet "national guard"
and the puppet security services in al-Basrah and most of southern Iraq
are made up of members of the Badr Brigades and the Da'wah Party - both
Shi'i chauvinist organizations closely tied to the US occupation forces.
The Badr Brigade, for instance, invaded Iraq in tandem with the US
troops in spring 2003.

The heroic death of Nicoli Calipari
Had everything gone as planned, an American sniper
would have assassinated Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena with one
shot, following the sniper's code of 'one shot, one kill'. The only
independent witness to what happened would then be dead, as both her
guardian, the heroic Nicola Calipari, the driver of the car, and the
other two passengers were Italian secret service agents, thus worked for
Berlusconi, and would be unable to say anything
Mar 9, 2005

Nicola Calipari was already 220 yards
inside Baghdad Airport's security perimeter when he received an incoming

from Langley fired more than 300 bullets at their car.

They
claim that normally Negroponte would travel by helicopter but could not

spin doesn't explain why the car was "lost" and why it had just two
bullet holes in the windshield, one in a side window, one in each tire
and no other bullet holes from those "frightened, trigger-happy"
soldiers. Such evidence is more characteristic of a cold-blooded
assassination than a Keystone Kops shoot 'em up. Soldiers obviously told
to shoot OVER the car with Sgrena to cover for the workmanship of the
assassin squad.

behind
What Giuliana told me that I had not realized before is that she wasn't

checking in obviously with U.S. forces, and then they drove onto this
secured road.
