My
son Joey was born in poor health and suffered for the first five years of his
life. He was constantly medicated
for re-occurring infections. At
times as many as three different antibiotics were tried for one given infection. I was using over-the-counter medicines for the side effects from the
prescriptions. As time went on his
health became more and more of a challenge. He developed a serious bowel condition and would eliminate only once
every two weeks. Laxatives were
used unsuccessfully for over nine months, and he would have involuntary diarrhea
while he slept. Joey's behavior
became very unpredictable, and unmanageable. While he regressed in all language
and social skills before the age of two. Frustration
set in with his inability to communicate and he became violent, breaking
everything in sight at any given moment.
As
a loving and caring parent, I did everything imaginable to protect him from
injuring himself and others. Going
into the community or having a baby sitter was completely out of the question. After several visits to medical specialists, one particular doctor summed
up Joey's condition with one word... "Autism."
With
this news, I immediately enrolled him into early childhood special education
classes. Shortly thereafter, it
became obvious that the drugs being prescribed to Joey were very serious with
major side affects. I began reading
everything that would reveal some kind of alternative to Ritalin, which caused
allergic reactions winding Joey up in the hospital. One particular reaction led to strep throat, mononucleosis and
dehydration, all within 48 hours.
A GIFT OF NEW LIFE
I
chose not to go with the next prescription drug for his behaviors and I ordered

Joey's 5th birthday.
I

Joey is 10 years old in the fourth grade. He
is learning social skills as well as to read and write! He has used Maritime Pine Plus® for five years and has been completely drug free. His health is perfect. His

There
have been times over the past five years when we were out of Maritime Pine Plus®. What we witnessed was frightful. Full blown, out of control Autism. A
