June 30, 2006 US Dictator George Bush has refused to rule out military tribunals for inmates at Guantanamo Bay detention centre. His administration was dealt a blow on Thursday when the Supreme Court ruled it had overstepped its authority in setting up the tribunals. But Republican senators immediately began planning how to win congressional approval for new tribunals.

June 30, 2006 "Connecticut Congressman Chris Shays was the only member of the Republican caucus to join Democrats in opposing a House resolution that condemns news organizations for providing the American people with information about what their government is doing in their name but without their informed consent. The non-binding resolution, rushed onto the House floor after President [sic] Bush and Vice President [sic] Cheney launched a public relations war against the New York Times for published leaked details of a Treasury Department effort to monitor bank transfers, was endorsed by a vote of 220-195 Thursday."
June 30, 2006 Here is a theory as to why NASA is launching despite the obvious risks and doubts expressed by managers. What if the payload is partly military, to support what is happening in the Mideast? Spy/communications satellites maybe? Orbital laser designator to guide someone's bombs onto Iran's power station? Given what happened with Challenger and Columbia, can anyone else think of a reason NASA is pushing so hard for this launch at this time? Michael Rivero, What Really Happened.com

June 29, 2006 Using the capture of one of its soldiers as the pretext, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) launched a brutal assault on the entire population of Gaza in the early morning hours of June 28. U.S.-supplied F-16 fighter-bombers destroyed the main power station in Gaza and destroyed bridges on the only major roads linking the northern and southern sections of the region. The people of Gaza are now without water and electricity -- and many will die. The use of U.S. planes and other military goods against illegally occupied territories is a violation of both international and U.S. law.

June 23, 2006 With American prompting, Saddam led Iraq into a bruising war versus Iran for eight long years. The Iraq-Iran war depleted Iraq's resources and crippled its economy with debt and lost oil revenues. There were at least four-hundred thousand killed on both sides, however the exact number of war dead remains unknown. As Heikal recorded in "Illusions of Triumph": whenever one side seemed in sight of victory Washington would secretly begin helping its opponent. The US intention was to "let them kill each other"-- a remark attributed to Kissinger.

June 23, 2006 It is now an established pattern: the government seeks out mental cases and disturbed individuals and turns them into "al-Qaeda" terrorists, or wannabe al-Qaedaites. Narseal Batiste, "the accused ringleader of a wacky terrorist cell" in Miami, as the New York Daily News puts it, "needs psychiatric help," according to his father, Narcisse Batiste. "He was distraught after his beloved mother, Audrey, died in 2000, relatives told The News, and the next year he left Chicago and dropped out of sight." From all accounts, Narseal Batiste is not an over-the-top mental case like Zacarias Moussaoui, but it appears he is vulnerable enough to be exploited by the government, determined to fabricate "homegrown" terrorists.
June 23, 2006 In regard to arrested Nuwaubians in Miami, Time Magazine writes: "The arrested men appear to be part of a cult organization proclaiming itself to be Muslim--although a member of the same religious group says it is, in fact, based on a homebrew of Islam and Christianity, and calls itself `Seas of David.' Its members, mainly Americans and Haitan (sic) immigrants, clearly have an enthusiasm for emulating and following al-Qaeda. But their only `connection' with al-Qaeda appears to have been the fact that a government informant who had infiltrated their ranks had apparently convinced the alleged conspirators that he was, in fact, a Qaeda operative. The oaths of allegiance to the organization alleged by the indictment to have been taken by the accused were administered not by any representative of the organization, but to a U.S. government agent posing as a Qaeda operative."
June 23, 2006 Like Richard Reid and Zacarias Moussaoui, one an idiot and the other a raving mental case, the "high-ranking al-Qaeda operative," Abu Zubaydah, is apparently "certifiably insane," according to author Ron Suskind, citing revelations by senior FBI and CIA officials, reports the Ottawa Citizen.

June 21, 2006 AT&T's new privacy policy, which takes effect Fridays, says that AT&T -- not customers -- owns customers' confidential info and can use it "to protect its legitimate business interests, safeguard others, or respond to legal process." The company's policy overhaul follows recent reports that AT&T was one of several leading telecom providers that allowed the National Security Agency warrantless access to its voice and data networks as part of the Bush administration's war on [of] terror.

June 18, 2006 Americans' wage gains are evaporating as inflation accelerates, helping explain why confidence in the economy isn't soaring along with job growth.
June 18, 2006 What does this mean? First, it means that prospects are looking grim in the real estate market. Second, PIMCO decided that it isn't prudent to hold on to Treasury debt now at such low rates when alternatively they can (1) bleed people who need cash, and in the meantime (2) wait until Treasury yields are sky high before sticking it to the government, a.k.a. taxpayers.
June 18, 2006 Take a moment here to digest the most brilliant imperial venture in human history -- a feat that defies economic gravity. America has the sweetest deal with the kleptocratic custodians of the oil plantations in the Gulf. For their part, the House of Saud and the Kuwaitis have agreed to price their oil in dollars, to accept payment only in dollars and to "recycle" a good portion of those "petro-dollars" into American capital Markets -- buying up corporate stocks and the bonds the United States government issues to finance the $400 billion annual budget deficit.
June 18, 2006 "Based on chemical analysis of WTC structural steel residue, a Brigham Young University physics professor has identified the material as Thermate. Thermate is the controlled demolition explosive thermite plus sulfur. Sulfur cases the thermite to burn hotter, cutting steel quickly and leaving trails of yellow colored residue."
June 18, 2006 "Ptech was with MITRE Corporation in the basement of the FAA for two years prior to 9/11," Singh said. "Their specific job is to look at interoperability issues the FAA had with NORAD and the Air Force in the case of an emergency. If anyone was in a position to know that the FAA - that there was a window of opportunity or to insert software or to change anything - it would have been Ptech along with MITRE." A representative of Ptech could not be reached. [Ptech appears to have been a Mossad front company created to provide insecure Trojan Horse software to the U.S. military and intelligence agencies. Ptech has the typical Arab owners and financiers - and Mossad operators.]

June 16, 2006 The U.S. has seen its net foreign asset position fall as Japan, emerging Asia, and oil exporting nations have become far more powerful over the past decade, and have increasingly become creditors to the U.S.2 As the U.S. deficits mount, with its imports being far greater than its exports, the value of the dollar has been declining -- 28 per cent against the euro from 2001 to 2005 alone.

June 16, 2006 Despite claims that U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has regained the diplomatic initiative from Iran with a conditional offer to join multilateral talks with Tehran, the real story behind the policy shift is that the administration has suffered a decisive defeat of its effort to get international sanctions for possible military action against Iran."
June 16, 2006 "For years, all the intelligence agencies have been tussling with the American Civil Liberties Union over documents about the innovative Bush administration policy of locking people up in foreign countries where they can be tortured without the inconvenience of anyone knowing about it or bringing up, you know, like, the Constitution. It is not yet clear -- though there is little reason for optimism -- whether the courts will let them get away with it, but the official position of the executive branch under President [sic] Bush is that the U.S. government can lock you up anywhere in the world, torture you and tell no one about it."

June 16, 2006 "The Supreme Court yesterday substantially diminished Americans' right to privacy in their own homes. The rule that police officers must 'knock and announce' themselves before entering a private home is a venerable one, and a well-established part of Fourth Amendment law... For those who worry that Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito will take the court in a radically conservative direction, it is sobering how easily the majority tossed aside a principle that traces back to 13th-century Britain, and a legal doctrine that dates to 1914, to let the government invade people's homes."

June 16, 2006 "A new voter suppression tactic has surfaced in Ohio. This time, Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell has implemented new rules making some legitimate voter registration activities punishable as crimes and severely restricting the ability of organizations, including People For the American Way Foundation, to register voters in historically disenfranchised communities... On June 26, the Ohio Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) will have the opportunity to reject the Secretary of State's new policy." Contact them!

June 15, 2006 It makes sense for Europe, China, India and Japan -- as well as all the other countries mentioned above -- to buy and sell oil in Euro's. They will certainly have to stock-up on euros now, and they will sell dollars to do so. The euro is far more stable than the debt-ridden dollar. The IMF has recently highlighted US economic difficulties and the trade deficit strangling the US -- there is no way out.

June 11, 2006 Politicians were not born yesterday. They know their constituents' likes and dislikes. So when the politicos geared up to slaughter thousands of Iraqis, back in 2002 and early 2003, they knew that their imminent killing spree would garner more popular support if they promised to carry it out for next to nothing. So that is precisely what they promised. Their idea was that because Iraq has so much oil lying beneath its godforsaken surface, the U.S. government would be able to waltz into the country, take control of the legendary oil reserves, and use the proceeds from selling the oil to pay for the so-called reconstruction of what the invaders had just finished smashing.
June 11, 2006 It's stranger than fiction, a tale bizarre beyond belief: The Army that helped conquer Iraq in three weeks doesn't have enough cash to keep the lights on at Fort Sam Houston. The post is in crisis mode, not dark but deep in the red.

June 11, 2006 At 9:52 a.m. Battalion Chief Palmer clearly stated there were only two isolated pockets of fire on the 78th floor, so that floor contained no inferno. Other firefighters were on floor 77, so that floor contained no inferno, and it is documented that there were no infernos above floor 78 No infernos = no truss failures. No truss failures = the building should have remained standing. Why are glaring inconsistencies in the official story of 9/11 and real world events overlooked by the mainstream media?

June 11, 2006 This is but the latest volley in a national, indeed international, campaign to discredit those who think critically and who bring alternative perspectives to their research. The May 9 report generated by the University of Colorado's investigative committee is designed to send a clear message to all scholars: Lay low. Do not challenge orthodoxy. If you do, expect to be targeted for elimination and understand that the University will not be constrained by its own rules - or the Constitution - in its attempts to silence you.
