Candida is a genus of yeasts. Clinically, the most significant member of the genus is Candida albicans, which can cause numerous infections (called candidiasis or thrush) in humans and other animals, especially in immunocompromised patients.[1] Various Candida species are members of gut flora in animals, including C. albicans.
The last decade has seen the sustained medical importance of opportunistic infections due to different Candida species mainly due to the worldwide increase in the number of immunocompromised patients, who are highly susceptible to opportunistic infections [2]. Meanwhile, the genome sequence of several Candida species has been completed, enabling the detailed investigation of some aspects of their biology with the aid of post-genomic approaches. The basic knowledge gained from these investigations of pathogenic Candida, and related yeasts, can translate into innovations in the development of novel antifungal therapies, original approaches for targeted immuno-interventions, or highly sensitive diagnosis of fungal infections [2].

Lets talk about Candida
Candida Albicans: The technical name for Candida. Many people think of
yeast infections as a plague upon women. Many women, myself included
have experienced them. Especially after a round of antibiotics which
destroys a lot of the natural flora in our systems. Babies get
"thrush", men get fungus infections in between their toes.
Yeast lives in the moist areas of the
body, such as the lining of the mouth and the vagina. They
usually cause no problems, but sometimes they overgrow, causing
infection. It can develop in the mouth (thrush), in the
respiratory track (bronchocandidiasis) and on the skin (dermatoecandidiasis)
What Causes Candida to go out of control?
There are so many factors to consider why anything goes awry with our
biological system. One thing many times leads to another and another,
we treat this and that with what ever the Doctor prescribes or what we
feel would work. The body is a whole system. I realized in later
years, that it is our body's job to heal! If you look back over the
years of your life at cuts, bruises, broken bones, etc you have had,
amazingly, the body just heals right up. Especially when you are young
and your systems are fairly new. When even young people get deathly
sick these days with diseases that are not normally thought of in the
young, it tells you that all of our bodies are not being able to
handle what they are supposed to. It tells you that our systems are
compromised and need to be cleared and cleansed and be helped back to
a place of balance. Candida is another thing gone out of control
because of many factors in our bodies, probably not just one factor or
two factors ...but many, in a deadly combination.
