Police Misconduct News Watch 11-19-09Billboard Warns: “Prepare For War” Against Government A new billboard off of Interstate 70 in Missouri provides a short “citizens guide to REVOLUTION of a corrupt government” and issues a call to “PREPARE FOR WAR.” This billboard replaces one that warned that the socialist “Obama-Nation” is “coming for you.” It’s unclear who the owner of the billboard is, but the first one was the work of a “Missouri businessman.”While it’s unclear who owns it, the Lafayette County Republican Central Committee seems to endorse it.

All 40 GOP senators to fillibust Obamacare This Saturday’s Senate vote on National health care for America looks likely to turn into a long, drawn-out bloodbath as all 40 of the Republicans in the chamber have vowed to filibuster the bill.Even moderate Republican Olympia Snowe has saidshe will participate in the fillibuster against Obamacare.Democrats need to only get 60 votes to proceed to debate, where they only need a majority to pass the bill. This will allow Democrat Senators vulnerable in their re-election 2010 bids a John-Kerry-esque “I voted for the bill before I voted against it” line of politicking, where they can vote for the bill first and then against it to pass the legislation into law.
Legal Travesty in the Kahre Case Federal Judge David Ezra has sentenced Las Vegas businessman Robert Kahre to serve 15 years in the federal penitentiary. What a travesty of justice. The man no more belongs in jail than, say, Plaxico Burress, the NFL player who was sentenced to serve two years in a New York jail for possessing a handgun for self-defense. It’s just part of the trend in America to send good people to jail for violating ridiculous regulations. What was Kahre’s crime? He took advantage of a loophole in U.S. tax law and then openly and publicly exposed it.

Climate-Gate, the new Red-Herring! A "Red Herring" is something that is designed to distract you from the real issues. "Look over Here, not Over There!" is an age old political trick as old as time. A "red herring" in a bucket of fish usually means something worse is in the barrel. Something "rotten in Denmark" as it were. Climate-gate is indeed a scandal. It is also a controlled release scandal. People don't dump this kind of information in the public domain without ending up dead somewhere. Just ask the numerous microbiologists that were killed because they possessed information that only "could" have been released to the public.

Mysterious Saddam Hussein channel hits Iraq TV Saddam Hussein is the star of a mysterious channel on satellite TV in Iraq that began broadcasting on the Islamic calendar's anniversary of his 2006 execution. The channel, which is broadcast across the Arab world, dredges up the sectarian divisions that Saddam inspired among Shias and Sunnis at a time when Iraq is gearing up for crucial national elections. Iraqi politicians have been arguing over parliamentary seat distribution in a dispute that has inflamed the splits. The wrangling will likely delay the vote beyond its constitutionally required Jan 30 deadline.
German
Cabinet official resigns over Afghan airstrike Reporting from Berlin
- A top German official resigned Friday after admitting that the government
had withheld information about Afghan civilian casualties after a NATO
airstrike. Labor Minister Franz Josef Jung, who until recently was Germany's
defense minister, said he took "political responsibility for the internal
communication policy" of his former ministry.
His departure came just one day after the resignation of Wolfgang Schneiderhan,
the army's chief of staff, and Peter Wichert, deputy defense minister, over
the German-ordered airstrike, the deadliest operation involving German troops
since World War II.

Iraq: The war was illegal Tony Blair will be quizzed over a devastating official memo warning him that war on Iraq would be illegal eight months before he sent troops into Baghdad, it was claimed last night. The Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq war will consider a letter from Lord Goldsmith, then Mr Blair's top law officer, advising him that deposing Saddam would be in breach of international law, according to a report in The Mail on Sunday.

4 police officers shot dead at Wash. coffeehouse A gunman burst into a coffeehouse Sunday and opened fire on four police officers as they sat working on their laptops, killing the three men and one woman in what an official described as a targeted ambush.Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said officers were looking for one male suspect who fled the scene and haven't ruled out an accomplice, possibly a getaway driver. It wasn't clear whether the officers even had time to draw their weapons to return fire, Troyer said."This was more of an execution. Walk in with the specific mindset to shoot police officers," Troyer said
Lending Declines as Bank Jitters Persist U.S. lenders saw loans fall by the largest amount since the government began tracking such data, suggesting that nervousness among banks continues to hamper economic recovery.Total loan balances fell by $210.4 billion, or 3%, in the third quarter, the biggest decline since data collection began in 1984, according to a report released Tuesday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The FDIC also said its fund to backstop deposits fell into negative territory for just the second time in its history, pushed down by a wave of bank failures.Inventor's terminal cancer courtesy of Verichip? Royal Marines could have rescued pirate hostages, but the order to attack never came The disturbing truth behind the Royal Navy’s failure to prevent Somali pirates kidnapping a British couple from their yacht can be revealed today. An investigation by The Mail on Sunday demolishes accounts by the Ministry of Defence and the head of the Navy which suggest that a naval vessel at the scene had no rescue force available. In fact, far from being a toothless bystander, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Wave Knight was within seconds of unleashing a crack team of 20 lethally armed Royal Marines. As for the Chandlers, whose lives are being ransomed in Somalia for £4million, the agonising memory of October 28 is unlikely to fade soon. They saw the Navy come to their rescue and then sink their hopes.

Matthew Hoh Speaks Grim Truth To Power The rare resignation on principle is always telling in American government. When Matthew Hoh recently left the State Department -- a Marine Captain in Iraq who became a diplomat in Afghanistan -- his act was significant far beyond the first reports.Hoh speaks grim truth to power. U.S. Army Interrogator Shot Execution Style at U.S. Iraqi Military Base One Day Before Hasan’s Ft. Hood Rampage The day before Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan went on a rampage at Ft. Hood and allegedly shot 43 military personnel, wounding 31 and killing 12, there was another “shooting” at an American military base in Iraq which has been treated far differently by the military: the “execution-style” murder of Staff Sgt. Amy C. Tirador, 29, of Albany, N.Y. at the U.S. military base near Kirkush. Even though the DOD claimed Tirador died due to a “non-combat related incident”, the DOD also stated that her death was “under investigation” and here’s the reason why: Tirador’s parents publicly stated that their daughter was shot “execution style” in the back of the head.
Big Pharma Sells Out However the Senate's health-care debate pans out, we'll wager this prediction: The pharmaceutical executives who have endorsed this exercise will eventually be exposed as among the most shortsighted CEOs in the history of capitalism. In June, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America sealed a deal with the White House and Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus promising to contribute $80 billion in lower drug costs over the next decade to ObamaCare, plus a multimillion-dollar TV ad campaign. In return they were to be spared from price controls and the reimportation of cheaper foreign drugs

Has Anyone Read the Copenhagen Agreement? We can only hope that world leaders will do nothing more than enjoy a pleasant bicycle ride around the charming streets of Copenhagen come December. For if they actually manage to wring out an agreement based on the current draft text of the Copenhagen climate-change treaty, the world is in for some nasty surprises. Draft text, you say? If you haven't heard about it, that's because none of our otherwise talkative political leaders have bothered to tell us what the drafters have already cobbled together for leaders to consider. And neither have the media.
Enter Lord Christopher Monckton. The former adviser to Margaret Thatcher gave an address at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, earlier this month that made quite a splash. For the first time, the public heard about the 181 pages, dated Sept. 15, that comprise the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change—a rough draft of what could be signed come December.
So far there have been more than a million hits on the YouTube post of his address. It deserves millions more because Lord Monckton warns that the aim of the Copenhagen draft treaty is to set up a transnational "government" on a scale the world has never before seen.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley has reached a new low in his attempt to blame

“Mayor Daley is deplorably capitalizing on the outrage at Fort Hood to

How Obama Screwed Up It's polarized, lobbyist-laden business as usual in Washington, and President Obama is largely to blame despite his campaign pledges to change the way business is done in the capital, writes Fred Barnes. Pretending the climate email leak isn't a crisis won't make it go away Climate sceptics have lied, obscured and cheated for years. That's why we climate rationalists must uphold the highest standards of science. I have seldom felt so alone. Confronted with crisis, most of the environmentalists I know have gone into denial. The emails hacked from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, they say, are a storm in a tea cup, no big deal, exaggerated out of all recognition. It is true that climate change deniers have made wild claims which the material can't possibly support (the end of global warming, the death of climate science). But it is also true that the emails are very damaging.
Extreme Heat vs. Extreme Cold: Which is the Greatest Killer? Hypocrisy in high places is nothing new; but the extent to which it pervades the Climategate Culture - which gave us the hockeystick history of 20th-century global warming - knows no bounds.

Farage effectively broke a tyrannical 1999 law that states it is illegal to criticize the EU.

Obama Shatters Spending Record for First-Year Presidents President Obama has shattered the budget record for first-year presidents -- spending nearly double what his predecessor did when he came into office and far exceeding the first-year tabs for any other U.S. president in history. In fiscal 2009 the federal government spent $3.52 trillion -- $2.8 trillion in 2000 dollars, which sets a benchmark for comparison. That fiscal year covered the last three-and-a-half months of George W. Bush's term and the first eight-and-a-half months of Obama's. That price tag came with a $1.4 trillion deficit, nearly $1 trillion more than last year. The overall budget was about a half-trillion more than Bush's for 2008, his final full fiscal year in office.

Forced labour and rape, the new face of slavery in America Human trafficking has become a major issue in the Midwest heartland of America, causing some campaigners to dub it a modern form of slavery.Figures from the State Department reveal that 17,500 people are trafficked into the US every year against their will or under false pretences, mainly to be used for sex or forced labour. Experts believe that, when cases of internal trafficking are added, the total number of victims could be up to five times larger. And increasing numbers of trafficked individuals are being transported thousands of miles from America's coasts and into heartland states such as Ohio and Michigan."In one recent incident a 16-year-old Mexican girl was found to have been trafficked across the US border. Doctors noticed the heavily pregnant girl showed clear signs of physical abuse when she was brought into a hospital in Dayton to give birth. The police were called but the couple who had brought her had already fled. When the girl's story emerged, it became clear she had been kept against her will in the nearby city of Springfield and used for labour and sex. "I thought slavery ended a few centuries ago. But here it is alive and well," said Springfield's sheriff, Gene Kelly."

He said, however, the corps couldn't be held liable for the flooding of eastern New Orleans, where two of the plaintiffs lived.Duval awarded the plaintiffs $720,000, but the government could eventually be forced to pay much more in damages. The ruling should give more than 100,000 other individuals, businesses and government entities a better shot at claiming billions of dollars in damages.

More than $98 billion in improper gov't payments More than $98 billion in taxpayer dollars spent by government agencies was wasted, much of it on questionable claims for tax credits and Medicare benefits, representing an increase of $26 billion from the previous year.In all, about 5 percent of spending in federal programs in fiscal year 2009 was improper, according to new details of a government financial report that were released Tuesday. Saying the overall error rate was similar in 2008, officials attributed the $26 billion jump to some changes in how to define improper spending as well as an increase in overall spending due to the recession.

Watchdog: Gov't may have overpaid to bail out AIG Officials managing the multibillion dollar bailout of insurance giant American International Group Inc. bungled the first rescue and may have overpaid other banks to wind down AIG's business relationships, a government watchdog says. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York — headed at the time by now Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner — paid AIG's business partners face value for securities so they would cancel insurance-like contracts AIG had written and ease the firm's liquidity crunch. Fragile Care Worsened Swine Flu in Ukraine When patients began arriving in Vyacheslav Bonder’s intensive care unit two weeks ago, their lungs so saturated with blood that they could barely gasp, the only thing he could compare it to was a field hospital in wartime. As soon as he hooked one patient up to a ventilator, a second and third would appear in the doorway.By that time, hospitals were clearing wards to make room for a wave of pneumonia cases, and people were crowding into drugstores to buy whatever they could get their hands on. Rumors were circulating that the government had ordered the city aerially sprayed with chemicals, to cure Lviv (pronounced luh-VEEVE) of disease or, in a grimmer version, to exterminate its carriers.(this does not seem to be the same as the well advertised 'swine' flu...this is much worse and some are wondering what has been 'cooked' up now and is being dumped upon the people?) "The virus causing the deaths is extremely aggressive, it doesn't first infect the throat (as is common in flu), but strikes the lungs directly," said Dr. Viktor Bachinsky, according to a ZIK news agency web report.

Gamal Mubarak: Egypt’s Next Unelected President It is always amusing to see how authoritarian regimes endow themselves with the trappings of democracy – a party, parliament, “elections” – as if they somehow confer legitimacy to otherwise undemocratic governance. In Egypt, the 28-year rule of U.S.-backed president Hosni Mubarak is a good illustration. Although Mubarak claimed election victory in 2005 and his “National Democratic Party” (NDP) holds a majority in parliament, since assuming power in 1981, his government has been most notable for political intimidation of opponents, suppression of dissent, and silencing any and all who dare challenge his authority.
Bloodless President Barack Obama makes Americans wistful for George W Bush During the election campaign, Barack Obama's cool detachment was a winning quality, the "No Drama Obama" a welcome contrast with the "Mr Angry" John McCain, never mind the hot-headed "I'm the decider" President George W Bush. A year into his presidency, however, Mr Obama seems a curiously bloodless president. If he experiences passion, he seldom shows it. It is often anyone's guess as to whether an event or issue truly moves him.

Israeli database reveals full extent of illegal settlement Just four
years ago, the defense establishment decided to carry out a seemingly elementary
task: establish a comprehensive database on the settlements. Brigadier
General (res.) Baruch Spiegel, aide to then defense minister Shaul Mofaz,
was put in charge of the project. For over two years, Spiegel and his staff,
who all signed a special confidentiality agreement, went about systematically
collecting data, primarily from the Civil Administration. One of the main
reasons for this effort was the need to have credible and accessible information
at the ready to contend with legal actions brought by Palestinian residents,
human rights organizations and leftist movements challenging the legality
of construction in the settlements and the use of private lands to establish
or expand them. The painstakingly amassed data was labeled political dynamite.

Who Are You Calling "Extremist"? (A clue here: ......it has been standard practice by those in power or who want to be in power to find someway to 'devide' and conquer. One of those methods, call it brain-washing/manipulation or strategy is to start 'labeling' groups/people, putting all of them into this box or that camp and then pitting people against each other. America was founded on 'freedom of speech'.......'they' want to stop that and this is the method they use to do that......It behooves us to remember the famous saying {paraphrased}: "I may not agree with what you are saying, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" If you want your freedom to speak saved, then you must help save that freedom for all!)
