Is There Hope For Cushings? 

Several years ago I discovered the fascinating world of natural medicine having started first with acupuncture, then ear acupuncture, then homeopathy, natural diets, herbs, chiropractic and any other healing modality including ozone therapy.  I was drawn to homeopathy because of the ease of administration and the versatility of the therapy. Over the years I have seen many miracles of cure through the use of Homeopathy and finally had a chance to treat several cases of Cushings Disease, both in dogs and horses.  To my amazement, people started calling me back to work on their other animals, because they found that the animal with Cushings symptoms no longer had symptoms and were not using any drugs or homeopathics.  Since then I have had about a dozen more successful Cushings cases.

Although each case is an individual, here is the protocol I use to treat Cushings Syndrome.

I always test the animal to see if there are any blockages from vaccine usage, because I find many cases need to remove this vaccine blockage through the use of homeopathics before the successful treatment is started(many cases are treated at a distance and I use telephone consultations and the symptoms of the patient to arrive at the proper homeopathic(s) to remove the vaccine blockage). Next, I use the Heel Companies protocol for Cushings disease (this treatment consists of a complex of homeopathics given 3-4 times daily orally) and also start the patient on Evitex ( a liquid chasteberry extract-an herb that has supportive properties for the pituitary and adrenal glands-must use for the entire treatment time) and also recommend both a chromium supplement and stevia in the hopes  these two supplements will help stabilize the glucose metabolism. Treatment time varies, but most animals  are cured within 6 months- no horses have been treated with Pergolide during the course of the treatment. With horses, I recommend they only remain on pasture for the morning hours since the sugar content is lowest, if the horse cannot tolerate this, then they should be kept in a dry lot and fed hay. To date, it has not been necessary to soak and drain the hay and beet pulp to reduce the sugar and I usually recommend a cool feed with less carbs.

I have been truly amazed that this simple formula has been so successful with so many patients and now have probably another 25 cases under this treatment. Future recommendations are to eliminate all vaccinations, reduce all chemicals(especially daily and monthly wormers-use fecal tests to determine when animals need de-worming or switch  to herbal or homeopathic wormers and only use chemical wormers when the natural wormers won’t clear the worm infestation.
