Questions
raised after 5 police killings in 1 week
Five people have died this week in violent confrontations
with police in the Puget Sound region - and some people
now are asking why there isn't a less deadly way of dealing
with aggressive suspects.
Meanwhile, investigators were still looking into a sixth
incident on Friday night in which police opened fire
on a man armed with a gun in West Seattle - but he survived.
The week started off with a Seattle police officer killing
a man at a busy street corner near downtown. John T.
Williams was shot several times when he ignored the officer's
repeated orders to drop a knife he was holding. ...the

Taser
Nation When I was a young editorial writer at The
Washington Times back in the early 1990s,
I had the good luck to work in the same office asSam
Francis. Sam had a talent for making devastating
observations in pithy, everyman language that contrasted
with the egghead-speak of so many faux intellectuals.
One such was his term, "anarcho-tyranny." Simply
put, it's the growing tendency of the government to
harshly treat ordinary (and typically non-violent)
citizens over even the most minor infractions while
at the same time treating violent predators - real
criminals - with disinterest and often minimal punishment
relative to their deeds.
The growing use of shock
therapy - Tasers - on motorists who've committed
minor traffic infractions such as failing to wear a seat
belt or who grumble under their breath while being issued
speeding tickets is Exhibit A.
Argue with a cop - indeed, do anything other than submit
immediately to his any and every command - and
you risk being shot through with 50,000 volts of "non-lethal" (but
sometimes not) Attitude Adjuster. It's happening all
around the country, to people who likely never saw it
coming or even conceived that such a thing could happen
to them. People who work, pay
taxes and never so much as pocketed a Hershey
bar at the drugstore. Middle-aged hausfraus. Moms with
their kids in the car. College kids. Retirees.
You
and me, in other words.

four were killed when a gunman opened fire on them

Epidemic
Of Police Brutality Sweeps America An epidemic
of violence is sweeping the country. Police are being
trained that the general public are the enemy and that
they can engage in outright brutality without recourse.
Taser deaths are skyrocketing because the police have

known as torture, to subdue and oppress the citizenry.
It is time for police to remember that their duty is
to protect the general public from criminals and not
act as enforcers for a tyrannical police state.

1/18/10 Rapes
of elderly women terrify central Texas towns YOAKUM,
Texas – With a serial
rapist on the loose, Cassandra McGinty
has developed a new routine when she arrives home:
search room to room, a handgun or stun gun drawn.
The predator has been assaulting older women in central
Texas over the past year, terrifying residents and frustrating
investigators who have only a vague description of the
suspect.
Pepper spray has
been flying off the shelves in the towns where the attacks
have occurred, and McGinty said her landlord in Marquez
handed out stun guns as
Christmas gifts. Nearly 200 miles away in Yoakum, elderly
volunteers at the local museum have been locking its
doors during business hours.
"I used to think I was too old for anybody to mess
with," said McGinty, 55. "I can't say that
anymore."
Beginning with the rape of a 65-year-old woman in Yoakum last
January, authorities have linked eight sexual assaults
or attempted sexual assaults to the suspect, who has
been dubbed the "Twilight Rapist" because most
of the attacks occurred around dawn. They also believe
he robbed or attempted to rob four other women.
The victims have all been women, ranging in age from
65 to 91. One rape victim played piano at her church
on Sundays. An 81-year-old woman scared off an intruder
with a gun, firing several rounds for good measure. A
66-year-old woman was attacked twice, despite having
moved across town following the first assault.
